Thank you to everyone who attended
the Turfgrass RoadShow Seminars. We had a total of
561 turfgrass professional in attendance at all five
seminars. Thank you also to all the exhibitors and
sponsors of these meetings: Agri-AFC, LLC, Humphries
Turf Supply, Davey Tree Experts, DuPont Professional

As a founding member of the
Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation, I would like to
encourage everyone to participate in our two
upcoming golf tournaments, the Mole Cricket Classic and
the Poa annua Classic, both are fund-raisers
for ATRF. ATRF is actively pursuing proposals for
new research projects to help every turf manager.
Take an active role in helping this organization and
have some fun on two wonderful golf courses in Alabama.
The Mole Cricket Classic will be held at Highland Oaks
Golf Course in Dothan on March 10th (next Monday) and
the Poa annua Classic will be held at FarmLinks
Golf Club in Sylacauga on April 21st. Register
today by calling
the ATA office at 1-866-246-4203. See you on the
course!

REQUEST FOR
INFORMATION - PLEASE RESPOND ASAP
The Alabama Turfgrass Association will be
represented at a meeting with the Jefferson County
Emergency Management Agency and other surrounding Water
Boards later this week. Several ATA members and
organizations from the Green Industry are compiling a
presentation and we need your assistance.
Please let the ATA office know how much business
your company loss due to the drought last summer.
This information is needed from the sod producers and
lawn care industries. Here is what we need:
What percentage of business was loss due to the drought?
Did you have to reduce your workforce, if so by what
percent? Did you have to reduce your operational
hours, if so by how much? We do realize
the poor housing conditions effected our industry - but
please try to distinguish only drought-related losses.
The Birmingham Water Works' Stage 3 and
Stage 4 water restrictions are extremely unfair to
our industry. This information can help us pled
our case for an industry-fair water policy
package.
